Lang Tengah Island Trip Part 4

Divers who dived in Sipadan Island usually would have least or no expectation when diving in islands located in Peninsular Malaysia. Me too. So, this time when dived in Lang Tengah, I did not expect to see macros like nudibranch. Probably my expectation was also attributed by UW experience in Redang Island many years ago. So the only ultimate goal was to hunt the shark.

But not too bad for this trip, there were still few nudibranches we discovered, though I have seen them in Sipadan/Mabul/Kapalai Island...

And a black Spanish Dancer...

Not only that, a surprise of a new fat nudibranch that we did not discover in Sipadan...

Damn me! It's over exposed. Blame me as I just couldn't get the camera setting right in most of the times throughout the trip. Arrgh!!! And a pro photographer was trying to poison me with lenses and Ikelite housing! Luckily I have antidote on camera gadgets. Hehe...

Finished seeing the macros, let's get onto the mission...

The small fishes were panicking, must be there...

Tada! The leopard shark (but it's called zebra shark in wikipedia). Let's get closer quietly...

From the front...

Aiks! It noticed us! A group of trespassers (divers) and it swam away...

Mission accomplished!

Wait a minute! Found a suspect of a murder case...

Were you the one involved in Steve Irwin incident?

Nay, it's too small to kill the mighty crocodile hunter.

That's all for the trip. Overall, not a bad one as I thought (I had very low expectation prior the trip), aside the "hoo-ha" happened prior the trip. Next trip has been secretly discussed to keep away from "hoo-ha", let's see how it goes this time.

Lang Tengah Island Trip Part 3

After the foggy incident, Now let's get onto the real meat to see the underwater in Pulau Lang Tengah.

Greeting us was the same angel fish that we met previously, with her true color...

Followed by an esurient parrot fish enjoying the lunch...

Her lunch partner was late for the date and speeding underwater...

The "traffic cop" trigger fish was chasing at the back...

Then the curious eel came out from her home sweet home to greet us...

But the camera-shy hermit crab was too shy to come out...

Not to forget a very vigilant goby guarding her cave...

And the usual lazybones sea cucumber that always sleeps on the rock was pretending to work hard...

But the blackie was still sleeping...

Deng Xiao Ping said regardless it's black or white cat, it's a good cat if it catches mice. Looks like this is not applicable to black or white sea cucumber. Hehe...

While at 3 meter safety stop, a new discovery by the female devil...

Can you spot it?

It's very difficult to take shots on this unknown juvenile species 'cause it's same color with the sea grass and it's extremely camera-shy that once the camera focus was fixed, it swam away. Arggh!

That's all for now, too many images may slow down the loading, let's put our trip mission to the last post. Stay tuned for "shark hunting" ;)

Why Face the Book? Why Not Face to Face?

Do you facebook?

I think many or almost everyone in this planet get this question from time to time. I just got one few days ago. My standard answer is, "Facebook? Oh, I need to recall my password."

Well. That is half true. Quarter true is because I really don't remember the password if I need to logon from another PC. What makes the answer half false is because I still able to logon to the site since I have my browser to remember the password. Another quarter true is because I don't frequent the site, may be once a week or two or until I receive an email notification (I have a secretary to update me from time to time what is happening in there! Haha!).

I am not anti social, I used to active in ahmoi.com, multiply etc etc. Those were the days. Few reasons I don't fancy facebook, one of course the time is always not enough but one of the most important factors is like what I mentioned here, the privacy. If you ever compare the T&C of blogger and facebook, you will see the difference.

That is not all. I thought I was the unique alien to keep self out of sync on the hottest social networking site, read this article published at theSun on Monday, exactly my thoughts...

This is why I have only few friends on my list. Let me logon and count now... Oh, 20, not bad huh? And mostly chicks! Hehe... Some people just like to invite and include almost every single account they can find in the facebook directory, perhaps there is a facebook champion award for those with highest number of friends in the list.

I may also have ignored/rejected few requests. One, I don't think you should be in my virtual social ring, I am sorry to say so. But don't feel bad, two, it could be that I prefer to collaborate with you face to face than "face the book" (nay, in fact face the screen). I do not want you to think I am ignorant when you poke me or whatever on the site, since I do not frequent the site. You may already on my YM, MSN or my phone number or even my house so there's no point to meet virtually on another site, right? I recalled I challenged few who asked my facebook account, it's like this challenge...

A Tom and Jerry challenge. Catch Jerry if you can, find me in facebook if you can. ;)

Above is just some 2 cents from me about facebook. Perhaps it's triggered by some incident happened in the recent days. Imagine one could expect you to stay in front of the screen 24x7x365 days to wait for the IM to pop up and within split of miliseconds if you don't respond, you would be convicted of being ignorant and disliking the message sender regardless if you are in front of the screen. Contrary, if you IM and get no response, that is normal. Can't imagine if the same sender sends me something in facebook and I don't respond timely. Anyway, life goes on, I have more meaningful tasks to complete than wasting my time to fulfill other's ridiculous expectations and desires, only my family and loved one have such privileges. Hmmm... I think perhaps it's another long winding topic to blog about my phobia over phone calls as well ever since I joined my current company 5 years ago.

By the way, you can download the article from theSun. But not sure if it's still available on next Monday. It's on page 18.

Lang Tengah Island Trip Part 2

As I mentioned earlier, this was my first dive after 9 months. Meaning, I needed to recall my memory on the camera settings and underwater photography skill. Let's see how it goes...

Typical procedure before diving, briefing by the dive master, Kamal (am I right?) the funny DM...

And typical behavior, most divers do not pay attention during the briefing. So am I :") But mind you, such briefing is important for your survival. My typical question to the DM is "Reef on right or left?" That's because I usually like to stay the last one underwater in the group so that I don't cramp myself with other divers. Especially when DM signals some interesting creature to see, you will get a Master Wong's 黄飞鸿 shadow-less kicks 无影脚 from the left, Bruce Lee's 李小龙 punch from the right and other sorts of martial arts by other divers all around your body. Stay at the back of the crowd and once the crowd left, I have my own sweet time to appreciate the creature, the scene and take my shots. Because of this, I gotta know where is the reef so that I can find and rejoin the group if I am too far behind 'cause I am just Open Water diver, not even Advanced and do not have dive computer and compass, but have experienced diving deep to 40m and numerous night dives. ;)

Enough talk cock. Let's get onto the boat...

Gear up! And roll your back...

Without fail, "finding nemo" is the first mission to accomplish for every dive...

I also like to see Christmas trees down there...

The angel fish...

Damn it! My camera housing fogged! Luckily this was only the check out dive and nothing much to see.

It's time to ascend, the DM signaled.

While ascending, we were approaching a school of unknown fish...

Like a giant bra, huh? "Dived" into the "z-cup bra" and these are the unknown fishes that formed the bra...

That's all for the check out dive. I gotta fix my camera before the second dive!
