HK Part 1

After the quick and efficient airport transfer, stuck in the jam for a while and finally we arrived at our hotel...

Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hotel at Tsim Sha Shui. And within 10 minutes, we get into our room...

I thought the room would be just a pigeon hole like Japan hotel but it's quite a spacious one. Unfortunately the view...

Not a good one :") Anyway, I don't think we would be sitting in the room for coffee chat to enjoy the view.

Guess this is the last good post for my HK story. I did not take good photos after I walked out from the hotel room. Getting too excited. Anyway let me see what else I have in the SD card.

Digital Lifestyle Expo DLE 2010

For local geeks, this could be the last gadget expo for 2010, the Digital Lifestyle Expo or DLE 2010 by PIKOM.

This is the first DLE in Malaysia. After talking to few exhibitors, this expo seems to be a rebranded PIKOM PC Fair to carry different concepts. Visit to PIKOM site confirms what the exhibitors told me. The expo is smaller scale than PC Fair, exhibiting more finished products and no DIY stuff i.e. bare hard disks, RAMs etc. If this is the trend then may be we could expect less PC Fairs next year to make way for DLE.

So with the new concept, what's happening in DLE?

To me, no difference from PC Fair (except layout change and smaller scale) and nothing much out from this expo (could be due to virgin expo and I've been to IT fairs in neighbor country). Perhaps the only take away for me is this gadget...

The Toshiba Android Table, AS100.

The spec and price...

A few minutes experience on this device - it lags like hell and not impressive at all. You would not have interest on it at all after you experience Galaxy Tab and iPad.

Nevertheless, I do grab something from this expo...

HWM magazine subscription. A one year subscription of RM144 (or higher depending on the postage method) comes with free Acer P110 320GB 2.5" portable harddisk...

I believe HWM always gives away some freebies during PC Fair but this is the first time with free portable harddisk. Since I am looking for a 500GB portable harddisk (I am fine with 320GB) and price for a 320GB platter is about RM150 in Low Yat, so this should be a good deal for my need. Since I hardly read physical books and the only book/magazine I read is internet, the magazine is just a plus as I can get tax rebate for it (and my peer tipped me I can sell to second hand bookstore for little cash in later!).

Be fast to reach the expo and the booth...

Only 62 units per day up for grab. So reach there by 10:30am tomorrow to be the first in queue! Last day man!

Beside the portable HDD, I got my bro a big HDD...

A 2TB WD Essential USB2 and 3 HDD. It's the same price RM399 as Low Yat, but I got no surcharge on credit card at DLE and a free gift for purchase more than RM300 in single receipt...

An USB charger. Looks interesting, let me figure out how to use it.

Here's the price list for WD platters...

You can compare with few LY retails like ViewNet and C-Zone, seems like you can grab some good deals from DLE :)

That's my trip experience to the first DLE. There may be some other good deals that might not catch my interest, so head out there to hunt yourself. You've just got your bonus right? :)

HK Here I Come!

Queue up! Check In!

Board the plane...

Tada! From KLIA to HKIA in 6 hours time!!

** DROOL **

许留山! 你休想逃出我的五脏庙!!

Opps! Getting too excited! I am supposed to check in the airport transfer service before anything else...

Stick this identifier on...

And now hunt for the flag...

C'mmon uncle, show me your vigor!! :P

Indeed, uncle really shows his vigor and damn energetic. We were chasing him and I was left far behind (uncle, sorry lah! My fault lah!)...

And in just a couple of minutes for sorting hotel destinations with different groups of us, I am already on the bus heading to my hotel via Tsing Ma Bridge (actually I do not know exactly if that's 青马大桥)...

The first ever impression I have on Hong Kong: time is money, fast and efficient. No talk cock, no waiting and no time wasting like Malaysian.

Moto & Apple

I missed out iPhone 4 from previous post so I asked Apple to send me one...

And here are some size comparison shots...

Both XT720 and iPhone 4 are pretty close in dimensions, but I certainly believe iPhone wins hands down on the operating system and contents. Motorola, do you hear it? Please update XT720 to at least Froyo immediately!

So have I crossed over? Not yet, but who knows? :)
